If you wish to use my tips, please ask. I worked hard to compile these tips, and I do not appreciate stealing.
Please message me if you have a question. I would love to help and maybe Ill put the answer up here!!
How to make money

1) Being employed.
2) Winning competitions with your horse)
3) Participating in lessons with your horse.
4) Selling manure produced by your horse to Mr.
Hubert in the breeder's store.
5) Selling back items found from your stock to Mr.
Hubert in the breeder's store. (Items already
placed in your saddlery CANNOT be sold back)
6) Offering coverings from your stallion.
7) Selling a horse either in auction or private sales.
8) Placing a horse in Safe Haven - You can sell
your horse for 400e (Remember: You cannot get your horse back once you place it in the haven. Use this as a last resort only!!)
9) Credit your reserve with a pass; you will earn
100e + registration time multiplied by 5 up to
a maximum of 1,500e per pass.

Want to know how the top breeders make their money? They work hard, make a name for themselves, and sell their foals. It takes strategy to do well on Howrse.

What will happen to my horse if I don't log in?

Your horses will not age as long as you don't log on and access their page. In other words they will be frozen, so nothing at all will happen to them. ;)

Choosing a good EC for your horse

1) Check the Meadows - The cleanliness of the meadows where your horse will be is extremely important. If they are not looked after properly, the your horse is likely to become ill. Avoid ECs with less than impeccable meadows.
NOTE: Dirty meadows can, and WILL make your horses ill! Avoid EC's with dirty meadows at all costs!!!
2) Check the price of Lessons - : The price of the lesson is automatically calculated according to the number of instructors working in the center and the number of horses residing there, how much the RIs get paid, and of course the health and dressage level of the resident horses. You can find the lesson price on the centers page.
3) Do they have Carrots? - Carrots are grown by the EC. They are important treats because they raise your horse's energy.
4) Does the EC have a Blacksmith? - A blacksmith reduces the wear and tear of the horseshoes of the horses residing in the center by 3.
5) Do they have a Saddler? - A saddler lets you repair your equipment. The repair is free, but you can only repair each saddle and bridle once.
6) Do they have Vets? How many? - Vets do little for stallions and geldings, but if you are planning to breed your mare make sure the EC you choose for her has plenty of vets (3 is really good) so you don't pay as much to foal your mare.
7) Check how much money the EC has left. - Always check and see how much money the EC has. If an EC doesn't have very much money, it is in danger of closing.
- Think before you board. You CANNOT cancel the board and lodging. The horse will stay there for the number of days that you have paid for.
- If you sell the horse, the new owner will benefit from the days that you have already paid for. They can also cancel the board if they don't like the center you chose.
- If the horse dies, you DO NOT get your money back from days that you have already paid for. The director of the center cannot be held liable for a horse dying, even if the horse died from getting ill off of the pastures.

Who to contact...

Thanks go out to Espionage for these tips (Espi, I copied directly from the Breeders forum. None of your lovely work has been changed, cept where it said me, I, or we, then I put in Espi, she, the mods, etc...xD)

First, some defintions for you:

MOD: Short for "moderator". they handle the boards, PM abuses, auctions, and more! They're a nifty little group that can help you with almost anything, even if it means just pointing you in the right direction

CONTACTS: profile --> my profile ---> contact us: these lovely people like to help with glitch issues, loss issues, super bad cases of abuse and harassment - some of the contacts are actually our admins, which we consult on a regular basis when we're confused ourselves!

Abuse: If you look at the bottom of a PM, you will see the "report as an abuse" button. When you push this, the message is fwd'ed to our abuse system, which then a mod judges as abusive or not (amongst other things, such as abusive advertising). Generally if someone cursed you out for a silly reason, this is the place to send that PM!

So here are some situations I see commonly around Howrse.

Help!!! My horse aged itself/I clicked the button on accident//the page froze and I clicked the button again! Now I lost the foal and have karma loss!
♥ Contacts please!

Someone sent me a harassing e-mail//someone asked for my password//someone cursed at me since I wouldn't sell them a horse.
♥ Abuse system please! This is the only way the mods know for sure someone did this (not that the mods don't trust you), and to make sure they get the rightful punishment!

Someone scammed me out of my horse...I tried to trade with them and they just took my horse!
♥ Unfortunately this is a buyer's beware sort of thing. However, Espi does suggest PM'ing the name to a mod immediately so the mods can watch out and make sure no one else gets scammed as well. In extreme cases of scamming for horses, these players are dealt with appropriately.

I found a glitch!!
♥ Awesome! If you don't see anyone posting about it on the boards, then definitely swing an e-mail at contacts. Otherwise, if you see a lot of people posting it, rest assured the mods have reported it to administration (but may need further help from you so don't hesitate to send a mod a PM)!

I randomly lost equus!
♥ Contacts please!

I have a question about my black pearl coat!
♥ Then do send questions to specifically Espi. She handles BP coats when it comes to the moderators and can probably answer your questions.

I have a question in general!
♥ Mods please!

I have a concern about the game -- I think this should be fixed, that should be fixed, and I'm unhappy with this and that --
♥ Well, start with a moderator and see what they can do for you before going to admins.

How do I become a mod?
♥ Rule 1. Don't ask -- so don't send the mods or any of the team a message

I have a petition!!
♥ Excellent! It's great you're trying to get what you want.  However, you will need at least 10% of the population on horse to sign your petition for it to be valid. Considering there's 2 million players now, and let's say half of those are active, thats 100,000 players that need to sign!

I have a suggestion for the game!!
♥ Moderator or admin's EC forum please!

Someone chainmailed me!
♥ Send it through abuse please!

If you are ever unsure, consult a mod first!

let Espi know if you can think of any more
Cheers,
Espi

<Edit by cindyntx>.....One thing that is commonly overlooked and is most often the culprit for game trouble is the browser. Keep the cache clean and the cookies and temporary internet files deleted. This should be done on a daily basis. Also, make sure you are using the latest version of your browser and Java. And make sure that Java is enabled on your computer. If you are unsure how to do this, then PM a mod and we can walk you through it.
For those that are using IE as their browser, please be aware that it is not the most compatible browser for the game. You may continue to have "glitches" due to your browser, even with proper maintenance. Firefox and Opera are the best browsers for the game.
Creating a Breeding Farm

First you have to have 3 karma points in order to create a breeding farm.
Then go to Your Horses.
Click the plus sign along the top.
You can then create your own breeding farm and you can only have one breed in your farm.

After you have created your farm, you have to place your horses in it by going to "My Horses" and clicking on the horse you want to place in the farm, then scroll down, then finally click the breeding farm icon and choose your farm from the drop-down box.
You can only have 3 breeding farms until Achievement 7, when you can have 5 breeding farms.

HELP!!! My horse is dying!!!

OK, calm down first of all. Your horse isn't real. Its a bunch of pixels. I'll count them for you if you want... lol ;)
Secondly, You can prevent your horse from dying very easily.
Here are some tips:
If your horses energy is low:

- There are many ways to raise your horses energy.
NOTE: A horse will not die from low energy unless it is below 5%. They will simply have less energy and morale the next day.
1) Give him something to eat. (variable gain)
2) Stroke him. (Max 12% gain)
3) Give him a turnip (10% gain)
4) Let him rest in box or pasture (variable gain)
5) Give him a salt stone (variable gain)
6) Sometimes you can find a lump of sugar, a peice of bread, or a pumpkin during his actions. (variable gain)
7) Give him a carrot if the EC you are in has them. (4% gain)
8) Give him energy mash (5% gain)

- At night, your horse recovers 5x's the energy it had at the end of the day before.

If your horse has low health:

-This is a reason to worry. First, make sure that he is not under or overweight
, and that you are caring for him correctly.  Then follow these steps to bring your horses health back up.

If underweight:
1) Feed him the maximum amount of feed.
2) Pasture him as long as the game will let you. (Again, make sure the meadows are IMPECCABLE, or your horse could become ill).
3) Groom
4) Water
5) Stroke (optional)
6) Bed

If Overweight:

Quick fix, work him hard and don't feed or pasture him.

If you cannot figure out why your horse is losing health, post on the forums. We will try to help you.

NOTE: a horse over 25 that is not immortal will lose 1-2% health per day. This is normal. Don't worry. If you care for them well until they are over 30 you will get a pass.

What do I need to know if I want to start breeding unis??

Teehee...well, Ill give you basic tips, but I don't breed them much myself...I never have much luck with them...:(

1) You can only breed two times every day. 6:23am/pm GMT.
2) If you manage to breed your uni at the right time to a uni stud of the same breed, you still only have a 1/6 chance of getting a uni foal.
3) Uni's are expensive and hard to breed. They almost always cost passes, and WILL cost passes to breed.
